Fantastic Swimming Award presented to COPASS Student Joshua

During Joshua’s access to swimming lessons, as part of the City of Peterborough Academy Special School’s curriculum during year 6 and 7, Joshua was recognised as a talented swimmer.

Joshua’s parents supported him and enabled him to access swimming lessons at the Peterborough Regional Swimming Pool and later he began swimming with Peterborough Special Olympic Swimming Group (PSOSG), training twice a week.

When Joshua joined the group he was assessed to be at Level 6 (ASA Swimming Awards) but through his dedication and hard work he has pushed himself to reach Level 10 (ASA Swimming Awards) in just 12 months!

Joshua’s coach, Dr Johanna Sydenham, describes him as a “much more competent swimmer”, who displays an “improved swimming technique” and that has enabled him to “rise through the ranks of the Group 2 swimmers”.

Joshua was awarded the trophy on the COPS Award Night on the 17th September 2016 in recognition of his outstanding progress and commitment to PSOSG.

This is a huge achievement for Joshua and one that is recognised by all who have supported him. A really big “well done” Joshua!
